Question 1

Is the Bible full of errors, dated & unreliable?

The Old testament is a patchwork of stories, mostly spoken, of a few judaic tribes and their combined history. These were pieced together, parts removed and homogenized into a semi historical narrative. It is more like a James Mitchner novel than an accurate representation of history, as has been revealed through anthropological evidence. It is akin to any mythological story of the norse gods, or hindu gods except it only has 1 god. It is an interesting read, but nothing more. It's "facts" are nothing that can be proven (and of course, like all religious texts, says that you can't prove it.) It has no real basis in truth, as truth must be proven or at the least have overwhelming evidence to support a claim of truth

The New Testament is another somewhat patched together narrative of Jesus through the eyes of 4 of the 12 disciples (the only ones who believed Jesus was magical, the others had different views, but since they didn't fit the story that the compilers wanted to tell, they have been conveniently left out.) Its mostly the incoherent ramblings of Paul, who sounds like he didn't have enough to eat and was hallucinating most of the time. His tenets and the words attributed to Jesus are mostly at odds and don't fit coherently or logically. Since this section of the bible repeats some parts and we only get the sense of a timeline from Paul, I'd say its not very historical or accurate since most of the gospels were written 90+years after jesus' death. No proof exists for the actual jesus from the time he was supposed to have lived, but we may dig up something, someday -Lynn DaEggman, Monroe, CT
